Are Cowbirds Villains? • No hosts extirpated in range expansion • Most endangered hosts suffer from habitat loss/degradation • Long history of coexistence with many hosts HOWEVER, • Effect of cowbirds on host numbers are poorly known, with only one or two reliable estimates J.
