Art & Design 3/4 With DENNY
Syllabus • Art & Design 4 is a one-year visual arts course of advanced studies that focuses on art as a visual communication device and prepares students for a college degree and/or a career as a graphic artist. Students will receive a technical foundation for the traditional arts, primarily drawing and painting. Our emphasis will be to give students the necessary tools to create a portfolio for use in the college application process.
Materials • Art is a materials intensive program. We will do our best to provide all of the necessary materials for the students. • At the beginning of the semester students will receive a sketch book and a pencil set. If you lose these items, it will be your responsibility to replace them. They will be used on a daily basis, and are necessary in order to complete the assignments for the class. • Other materials will be passed out later on in the semester.
LAB FEE • There is a $20 lab fee for the entire year. On occasion, students will be asked to bring in random items to assist in the creative process. • Cash or Check made out to Da Vinci Schools. • If you have issues with this, please see me after class.
Grading • 80% Projects / Assignments • 20% Habits of Mind

Warm Up Sketches • Will be on the board at the beginning of class. • Warm-Ups last 10 Minutes • SILENCE!!! • Use this time to get into the art mindset. • In your sketchbooks (when you receive them) • Limit yourself to a page. • Use the whole page • Use the whole 10 Minutes.
