  2. Lovejoy Class of 2012 Class of 2012 • Senior year is special. • Seniors are the leaders of the school. • Pay attention to the deadlines. • Scholarship money is out there. • Over communicate!

  3. Lovejoy Class of 2012 Lovejoy Graduate Profile • Intellectually equipped • Open to the challenges of learning • Well rounded • Engaged in a healthy lifestyle • Fair and respectful of others • Working for justice through community service

Lovejoy Class of 2012 Parking Lot • Painting postponed – rescheduled for weekend of September 16 • Senior parking lot selection for painted spaces will still take place tomorrow beginning at 9 a.m. All other senior spaces will be selected Tuesday at 1 p.m. • Schedule for selection was sent out via e-mail yesterday.

  5. Lovejoy Class of 2012 First Day of School • Senior Breakfast begins at 8:45 a.m. • Senior Walk-In at 9:45 a.m. • Classes begin at 10 a.m. • Pick up new schedule in the Main Gym Lobby after the Senior Walk-In. • New schedule – periods 1-8 everyday. • 3 Lunches instead of 4.

AP Enrollment in Lovejoy • In 2010, LHS administered 587 AP tests in April. • In 2011, 855 tests were given. • Large enrollment increases occurred in Calculus AB, Calculus BC, English Lang., French Lang., Psychology, Statistics, US Govt., US History, and World History. • In 2011, 75% (172 of 229) seniors took at least one AP course. • Of these 172 students, 61 (35%) took an AP course for the first time as a senior.

  9. AP Scholars • In 2010, Lovejoy ISD had 65 AP Scholars. • This represented 16% of the eligible students. • In 2011, Lovejoy ISD will have 86 AP Scholars. • This represents 20% of the eligible students.

  10. AP Scholars and GPA • Of the 42 AP scholars, 24 were graduates in the Class of 2011. • Rank and GPA indicates: • 10 in top 25% • 9 in second quarter • 4 in third quarter • 1 in fourth quarter

  11. Lovejoy Class of 2012 Senior Project 2011 Why Senior Project? A hands-on opportunity to learn about and do what interests you. Every senior is encouraged to take part in senior project. • Live out a passion • Investigate a career • Serve others

  12. Lovejoy Class of 2012 The 5 P’s of the Senior Project 1. Proposal (Write a proposal.) 2. Poster (Make a poster highlighting your project.) 3. Paper (Write a research paper in your English class about your topic.) 4. Project (Complete your project.) 5. Presentation (Give a presentation of your project to members of the community.)

  13. Lovejoy Class of 2012 Getting Started In the next couple of weeks….. • Start thinking about what you might want to do. • Visit with people who know something about your topic. • Talk about it with your parents. • Make sure you can do it. • Write a proposal.

Lovejoy Class of 2012 Senior Activities - Community Service • Community service will be ongoing throughout the year. • All clubs, organizations, and extracurriculars (athletics, fine arts) will be asked to participate in community service. • Focus of all activities will be on graduate profile. For seniors, emphasis will be on “working for justice through community service”.
