  3. Graduation Requirements • 225 Credits – Seniors at the start of the fall semester should have 165 credits • Fulfill Subject Requirements • Pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) • Language Arts • Math

Subject Requirements • English 40 credits • Math 30/40 credits • Social Science 30 credits (World History, US History, Government & Economics) • Science 20 credits • Language OR Visual Performing Art 10 credits • Career Technical Education 10 credits • PE 20 credits • Health 5 credits • Elective 60 credits Fulfilling WHS’s subject requirements is sufficient for students planning on attending a 2 year college and transferring to a 4 year college

Personal Statement Two Prompts: “Describe the world you come from – for example, your family, community or school – and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.” “Tell us about a personal quality, talent, accomplishment, contribution or experience that is important to you. What about this quality or accomplishment makes you proud and how does it relate to the person you are? 1000 words total – not recommended to have less than 250 words for either prompt Complete essays in word and cut and paste If requesting a teacher or counselor to review your essay, make sure you give them enough time to look it over

  21. Admissions To The UC System Statewide Path 1. Top 9% of California High School Students 2. Applicants meet general requirements and have a high score on the UC Admission Index Local Path – Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC) 1. Top 9% of students in local high school 2. Applicants have a 3.0 gpa or better in a-g courses 3. Applicants meet 9% benchmark gpa for their high school. Both Paths = 10.5% of high school students.

Eligibility in the Local Context (ELC) Top 9% of students in their class Completed a specific pattern of 11 UC approved a-g courses by the end of 11th grade Earn a specific GPA or higher in the 11 courses Complete the full a-g pattern by the end of 12th grade Students will know their ELC status after they submit their application Viewed very favorably, but not guaranteed admission to your top UC choice (except UC Merced) If student is not identified as ELC, student can still be eligible for UC through the statewide path

Specific Financial Aid for UCs Blue and Gold Plan Family Income less than $80,000 Grant and scholarship money from all sources to equal systemwide tuition and fees – approximately $13,000 Middle Class Scholarship (MCSP) Family Income between $80,000 - $150,000 May receive a partial scholarship based on a sliding scale Students must be California residents & must file the FAFSA and the Cal Grant by March 2, 2014

SAT/ACT Westmoor High School Code - 050723 CSU’s will use highest SAT or ACT score from multiple sittings – 3594 can be used for one CSU and all CSUs will receive the SAT score UC’s will use only highest combined SAT or ACT score from a single sitting – students can send SAT scores to one campus and all of them will receive the score All SAT and ACT tests must be completed by DECEMBER of Senior year Impacted CSU campuses prefer that students complete testing by the November test dates
