THE ROTARY FOUNDATION HOW IT ALL WORKS • It all begins with a donation • The donation can move in one of three ways • The Permanent Fund • Annual Programs Fund (APF) • Restricted Giving
PERMANENT FUND • The money donated to the Permanent Fund will be kept indefinitely by The Rotary Foundation • Only the earnings from the money will be spent for Foundation Programs • The earnings can also be split (after 3 years) between the World Fund and DDF…only if the Donor specifies on the Global Contribution Form that the donation go to the SHARE SYSTEM • NOT PAUL HARRIS RECOGNIZED • District Chair-PDG Luz Maria Ortiz Smith

DDF to D.5240 2012-2013 • 3 years ago D-5240 gave $559,312 to APF & PF-(share) • World Fund will receive 50% $279,656 • District 5240 will receives 50% in DDF $279,656 • 20% to DSG--$55,931 • Minus GSE-- $5000 • Minus 2 Ambassadorial Scholarships @ $27,000 each--$54,000 • Matching Grants--$164,724
DISTRICT ALLOCATION PROCESS • DDF is allocated to each Club based on prior 3 years of APF giving as a % of total DDF to MG • % based on MG $164,724 • Fosters cooperation and communication (deal-making) between Clubs • And it encourages Clubs to support APF • Clubs own their allocation until a pre-determined cutoff date—9/30/12 • Can only be used for MG • Learn more at MG Session
MATCHING GRANTS • International Project • International Partner • TRF (World Fund ) and DDF match • Min. TRF match $5000* • DDF matches Club cash $1 for $1 • TRF matches Club cash $.50 to $1 • TRF matches DDF $1 for $1 • Min. $100 from project Host Club *will change in 2013-2014 FV
MATCHING GRANTS • A MG can ask TRF/World Fund for $5000 to $25,000 total • Require District Grant Committee, DRFCC, & DG approval before moving to TRF for approval and a Grant number • Competitive Matching Grants start at a minimum of $25,001 to $200,000 in TRF/World Fund money • R.I. Trustees review and approve two times a year in March and October

MATCHING GRANTS • All International Partners must fund at least 50% of the project……so • If the US is the Host Country/Partner • International Partner must generate 50% of the Grant funding in cash, DDF, or a combination of both to the project
DISTRICT SIMPLIFIED GRANTS (DSG) • International or local • Partner not required • No TRF (World Fund) funding • DDF match only • DDF match $1 for $1 • Max $3K match for one Club • Max $4K match if 2 or more Clubs More to come at the DSG session
DISTRICT TRAVEL GRANTS(DTG) • UNIQUE TO OUR DISTRICT—Funded by the District 5240 Charitable Foundation • Max amount $1500 individual…$3000 for a group of 3 or more • $ for $ match • 1 DTG/Club /Rotary year • Rotarians & Non-Rotarians must have specific knowledge and/or skills pertaining to the Planning Mission • An individual may only apply once every 3 years • NID travel not eligible • Final repot due within 90 days of return • Unused funds returned to the District
ROTARACT GRANT • Funded by District 5240 Charitable Foundation • $ for $ match up to $2000/Rotaract Club…a Club can do multiple projects up to the $2000 limit • Applications sent to DGSC…electronically • Reimbursement will not be issued without an approved final report sent to DGSC • If final report is past due, no additional funding • Grant application and Guidelines will be on District web-site

FUTURE VISIONS NON-PILOT DISTRICT • D-5240 is a Non-Pilot District for one more Rotary year • Can’t do Matching Grant with Pilot District because MG’s do not exist in a Pilot District • D-5240 can do a DSG with a Pilot District since no TRF funds are involved • A Pilot District can receive from D-5240 or transfer to D-5240 DDF for an ongoing project
TRANSITIONING to FUTURE VISIONS • The upcoming Rotary Year 2012-2013 is the transition year for Non-Pilot Districts to Rotary Year 2013-2014 and the implementation of Future Visions world wide • Seminars and Break-out Sessions will be given throughout the next 15 months by D-5240 staff
