Development and Alumni Strategy Council Advise on how to maximize private funding support for UNM over the long term ENCOURAGEMENT The Council members shall encourage development and alumni efforts by leadership and interested faculty and staff and advise on the establishment of appropriate expectations and benchmarks. PREPARATION The Council shall advise on preparations for the next comprehensive campaign and pursuit of new donors beyond the State of New Mexico. COORDINATION The Council shall advise on the coordination of the campus development and alumni efforts and major gift strategies, policies and plans.

Development and Alumni Strategy Council Highlights of the UNM/UNM Foundation September 2012 MOA • The President will establish a new university wide alumni and development strategy council to advise and coordinate development and alumni activities • The President of UNM is a voting member of the UNM Foundation Board of Trustees, Executive Committee, Investment Committee and Committee on Trustees* • The President of UNM will appoint two Deans to serve as Trustees on the UNM Foundation Board* • The UNM Foundation will function as an interdependent entity with a close operational and fiscal relationship with the University through the University President and the academic leadership of the University • Direct report and evaluation of the UNM Foundation President now shared between the UNM Foundation Board of Trustees and UNM President
Development and Alumni Strategy Council MOA Highlights cont. • New multi-year funding commitment will stabilize the UNM Foundation budget and allow the Foundation to grow to meet the needs of UNM • The Foundation shall, at its next regularly scheduled Board of Trustees meeting, further amend its Bylaws to conform with the terms of this MOA • The University will include fundraising in all Dean’s job descriptions • The University will monitor expenditures or income disbursements from all spending accounts to ensure donor-imposed restrictions are maintained, and the University’s Department of Internal Audit will periodically review compliance with such restrictions • * Points reflected in revised UNMF Bylaws • Items accomplished as of December 31, 2012 • Items pending as of January 1, 2013
