Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept whereby organizations consider the long-term interests of the communities in which they operate and take responsibility for the impact of their actions on employees, customers/members, the community and the environment.
CSR activities are often referred to as being in three different but connected realms: People Planet Profit This is known as the “triple bottom line”
Why CSR is Good for Business • Ethics: It is the right thing to do • Brand Enhancement: Better brand reputation • Public Expectations: The public has higher expectations of the responsibilities of business to create social benefits • The War for Talent: more attractive to existing and new employees • Risk Reduction: Risk management through transparency of activities • Value: The creation of value and competitive advantage • Sustainability: Environmental measures can often increase business sustainability and cut costs
