Goal & Purpose of Customized Employment Learning Community The Customized Employment Learning Community (CELC) will provide a forum for DVR staff, partnering state agencies, education staff, direct service providers and others to learn about and share approaches in developing common practices of implementing the essential elements of Discovery & Customized Employment Services.
Summary of Essential Elements of Discovery Services • Determination of strengths, needs, and interests of individual should be the result of a qualitative approach of Discovery; • Should include the recognized strategies of qualitative research; • Discovery facilitation should strive to view the employment seeker descriptively rather than evaluatively; • Discovery should include interviewing the employment seeker, the family/ natural supporters, and friends; • Discovery should include observations of and participation with the employment seeker in typical aspects of their lives; • Discovery should include an optimistically focused review of records pertaining to the employment seeker; and • Sufficient time is an essential component of quality Discovery.
Current Status of Discovery Services Pilot • 17 authorizations in AWARE • Active Learning Partners - 2 Students, 3 Youth, 10 Adults • 14 Service Providers participating in certification with MG&A • 2 Learning Partners have discontinued program • 2 Service Providers have discontinued seeking certification • Kudos from MG&A (Teresa & Randy): “We are both so incredibly impressed with the group of certification participants--they have taken our advice to heart and have jumped right into the certification process. Required Documentation & Billable Activities Discovery Services: Aware Code: 41000-01 CE Discovery Services - $50/hr - up to 40 hours can be authorized initially, then Supervisor approval is needed for additional hours. Discovery Services Profile: Aware Code: 41000-02 CE Discovery Profile - $300 Flat Fee
Required Documentation & Billable Activities What are billable activities for Discovery Services? • Initial meeting to explain Discovery Services • In home/neighborhood visits, scoping out neighborhood • Observations, interview with participant/family/friend/other • Records review What is not billable activities for Discovery Services? • Reading MG&A manuals • Reviewing MG&A webinars • Interactions (email/phone) with mentor • Report writing What documentation is needed for Discovery Services? Progress reports submitted for Discovery Services billing are to include date of service, # of hours of service, description of service.
Required Documentation & Billable Activities What is billable for the Discovery Profile? • Approved Discovery Profile by Marc Gold & Associates mentor during certification process is required for payment. What is not billable for Discovery Profile? • Report writing • Review with MG&A mentor
Digital Media Release Discussion • What are you currently using? • Do we utilize CDLEs Media Release or DVRs General Release of Information? • Considerations: *Add digital media as option to current DVR general release of information form *Add provision to CDLE media release to share with employers
