Overview of the Grant • Summary: • May request up to $10,000 • Only for hospitals with active L & D units • Two possible QI or project opportunities – you pick! • Grantees will enter into a MOU or contract with the WDH’s MCH Unit • Grantees required to participate in 4 quarterly TA calls w/MCH Unit & Wy Opioid Response Workgroup • Grantees required to participate in one project site visit (may be virtual) • Grantees required to submit upon request pre/post project data for evaluation • Applications due no later than July 22, 2019 to mchinfo@wyo.gov & Danielle.marks@wyo.gov • NOA: August 1, 2019 • Funding period – November 2019 – August 31, 2020 • Questions: contact Brendakburnett1974@gmail.com or 719 661 9271
Colorado Substance Exposed Newborns (CHoSEN) Hospital Learning Collaborative Dr. Susan Hwang Is an Assistant Professor Pediatrics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and neonatologist at Children’s Hospital Colorado. She leads the Colorado Hospitals Substance Exposed Newborn Quality Improvement Collaborative. Dr. Hwang is a NIH-funded health services researcher whose research focus in on the transition of care from hospital to home for high risk newborns. She works closely with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and with state health departments in Massachusetts and Colorado to translate research into policy and practice change to improve the health of mothers and babies.
Obstetric Care for Women with Opioid Use Disorder Patient Safety Bundle Laurie Baksh, MPH Is the Manager of the Maternal and Infant Health Program at the Utah Department of Health. This program oversees maternal and infant mortality review, reproductive health, perinatal quality improvement, maternal mental health, the Utah Pregnancy Risk Assessment Monitoring System (PRAMS) and the Study of the Associated Risks of Stillbirth (SOARS) project. Prior to that, she worked for 10 years as the Epidemiologist for Utah PRAMS. She has also worked for the Maternal Fetal Medicine Dept. at the University of Utah School of Medicine and the Utah Medicaid program. Laurie received her bachelor’s degree in Behavioral Science & Health and a Master of Public Health degree from the University of Utah. She is a member of the Utah Department of Health Institutional Review Board and served as President of the Utah Public Health Association from 2008-2009.
