1. HanWha Resort, Gyeongju, Korea June 29-July 1, 2006 Location Invitation The symposium will be held in HanWha Resort, Gyeongju. Gyeongju located at the south east part of Korea is a city of history, culture and sightseeing which attracts a lot of tourists from home and abroad and there are abundant treasures throughout the city. Mt. Namsan, Wolseong, Daereungwon and Hwangnyongsa as well as Seokgulam and Bulguksa are registered on the list of the World Cultural Heritage. The night lighting that has been set up in the historic sites such as Anapji are to make your visit a more worthwhile stay in Gyeongju. The 3rd KITECH-KU Symposium on Bulk Metallic Glasses and Advanced Materials On behalf of organizing committee of the 3rd KU-KITECH (Kumamoto University – Korea Institute of Industrial Technology) symposium on Bulk Metallic Glasses and Advanced Materials, we cordially invite you to the symposium, which will be held on June 29 – July 1, 2006 at Gyeongju, Korea. The two previous KU-KITECH symposiums on Bulk Metallic Glasses and Advanced Materials were held in Jeju island, Korea (2004) and Kumamoto, Japan (2005), respectively. Its scope is to highlight current and future multidisciplinary research and development on technologies for the bulk amorphous and advanced materials. In addition, we primarily intend to focus on reinforcement of connection between the fundamental science, engineering and commercialization of both the issues. Particular emphasis will be placed on developing close interactions among scientists and engineers who attends from not only from both the parts but also worldwide. More than 50 papers is scheduled to present at the symposium. The next generation new technology development center, an organizer of this symposium, was founded for nationwide development of BMG and its parts with ultrahigh strength and high performance at Korea Institute of Industrial Technology sponsored by Ministry of Commerce.               Finally, I sincerely hope that this symposium will serve as an occasion to encouraging and exchange the most state-of-the-art information and knowledge on the bulk metallic glasses and advanced materials. Passengers landed at Incheon International air port are asked to move Kimpo domestic airport to catch a flight flying to Taegu, Pohang, Ulsan, where frequent express busses and trains are served to Gyeongju. International passengers arrived at Pusan International Airport can use frequent busses and trains directly to Gyeongju. Further information will be announced soon.
