What is it? • A system that enables children to think about how they are learning rather than just what they are learning. • It enables children to articulate to: each other, staff and parents how they have learnt something.
How do we learn? • Try new things • Understand others • Work hard • Concentrate • Push yourself • Don’t give up • Imagine • Improve
What level are we? Within each area there will be 3 levels which childrenwill work towards. • Launch pad (bronze) • Rocket Boosters (silver) • Blast off (gold) Childrenwill be aiming to Blast off!
How does it work? New theme introduced each week:assemblies & classroom. Children will be reminded of the 3 different levels through their lessons, particularly plenaries. By the end of the week they will know which level they are and this will be recorded on their charts – class charts for KS1 and individual chart for KS2.
How does it work? Each week teachers will choose 2 children to receive a award certificate in the assembly on Friday related to that theme. Their names will be added to the rocket in the hall. They will have an opportunity to revisit that area of learning and move up a level.
What can you do to help at home? Ask your child which area they are working on that week. Read through the statements with your child at home. Discuss what level they are at and what you think they could do to move to the next level. Reward & praise them when they bring home a certificate.
