S4 Revision Questions Complete a picture question and a “Part b” question that you haven’t attempted before for the art studies area relevant to you (portrait, landscape or still-life) and also for product design. You should allow yourself 15 minutes for each question Remember, you will need 2 ticks for each mark. You can get these by a detailed description of a feature (1 tick) and a description of the effect of it (1 tick).
Portrait Int 2 part b. Discuss two portraits by different artists. How have the artists used colour, composition and media-handling to portray the characters of their subjects?
Egon Schiele, Self Portrait, 1912, charcoal and gouache on paper. Discuss the mood or feeling of this portrait with reference to line, shape and colour. (10 marks)
Chuck Close, “Lyle” 2003, oil on canvas, 2metres tall Comment on the artist’s style and use of colour and pattern in this portrait. What impression do you get of Lyle and why? (10 Marks)
