Density • A block of cast iron of volume 30 cubic cm consist of mass 210g. Calculate the density of block.
Real life pressure • A truck used in the desert has wide tyres. • A cricket stump has a sharp point at one end. • A drawing pin has a sharp point at one end and a large flat head at the other end. • Who will create a greater pressure, a heavy person standing on a bed or a lighter person lying on the bed ? Explain your answer.
Calculating pressure • A hammer hits a nail with a force of 200N. The point of the nail has an area of 0.5 square m touching a piece of wood. Calculate the pressure on the wood .
Calculating force with the help of pressure • A foot bridge has been designed to withstand a pressure of 2000Pa. The area of the bridge is 15 square m. What is the greatest force the bridge can resist ?
Energy • Name given to the energy of moving car. • Many people use oil to heat their homes. Draw a diagram to show the energy change. • A stone is thrown upward. Show the different forms of energy transfer from one form to another by line diagram. • A mass of 2kg has a speed of 3m/s. Calculate its kinetic energy.
Energy Power & Efficiency • A mass of 2kg is 3m above the ground. Calculate G.P.E. • A car has a steady speed of 30m/s. If the total frictional force on the car is 700N, what useful power output does the engine deliver to the wheels. • A crane can lifts a 100kg of concrete block through a vertical height of 16m in 20s. If power input to the motor is 1000W, calculate the efficiency of crane.
Velocity & acceleration • A car increases its velocity from zero to 12m/s in 4s. Calculate the acceleration of car. • A car is moving with 12m/s. If it has a steady acceleration of 3m/square second. Calculate velocity of the car after 5s.
