  3. The rules: Below you will find a list of “disabilities”. Of these first, you must choose the one you “want” Second, you select the one you would “take”. • Blindness • Down Syndrome • Cerebral Palsy • Multiple Sclerosis • Traumatic Brain Injury • Autism Spectrum • Spinal Cord Injury • Deafness Another Person’s Shoes - a thought experiment … Lets talk about it …..

  4. The question that is most important: It is the ”why” that informs the what and how. Why Are We Here? Don't you hate that question??

The Wisconsin Board for People with Developmental Disabilities (BPDD) is charged under the federal Developmental Disabilities Assistance and Bill of Rights Act with advocacy, capacity building, and systems change to improve self-determination, independence, productivity, and integration and inclusion in all facets of community life for people with developmental disabilities. This is the role and mission of the board. The role of state councils is to seek continuous improvement across all systems—education, transportation, health care, employment, etc.—that touch the lives of people with disabilities. Our work requires us to have a long-term vision of public policy that not only sees current systems as they are, but how these systems could be made better for current and future generations of people with disabilities. BPDD is charged with advising the Governor and Legislature on public policies that effect people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. POLICY

  6. The rules : Form small groups 4-6 people. Take this time to discuss why you believe in the mission. Report out two (2) things that re-inspired or inspires you about the mission. Report out somethings you want to see receive more attention . Why is BPDD’s mission important to you? What is that worth and why? Why Are We Here?
