STANDARDS AND MODEL/ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Identify the school counseling standards and model to be used by all districts in Louisiana • Clearly define the roles and responsibilities of school counselors
STATE INFRASTRUCTURE/ PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT Provide an infrastructure at the state level that will support and enhance school counselors in Louisiana Provide meaningful professional development reflective of the LaSCM Evaluate school counseling programs and school counselors at the district and school levels
SCHOOL COUNSELOR CERTIFICATION • Change state certification policy for school counseling
SCHOOL COUNSELOR PREPARATION Change school counselor preparation programs to align with new certification policy
COMMUNICATION • Have State leaders clearly articulate the identified roles and responsibilities of school counselors to districts and schools.
BEST PRACTICES • Provide schools and districts with best practices to prepare students in PK-20 for college and career readiness planning.

Advocating for additional support, time and empowerment for leadership to give students what they need • Continuing to provide school counselors a voice in education reform, and research to guide policies and practical tools to ensure every student is college and career ready to meet the demands of the workforce economy
