What is a myth? • An old story that is handed down through the years. • A myth may have gods, goddesses or heroes. • It is usually meant to explain how something came to be.
Choose a myth to watch. • Daedalus and Icarus • Daedalus, the father, and Icarus, the son, are trapped on an island. • Find out what lesson Icarus learns when they escape. • Jason and the Golden Fleece • To be king, Jason needs to capture the fleece from a dangerous monster. • Pandora’s Box • Pandora is curious about what’s inside her husband’s box. • Find out what is released when the box is opened.
Make a Story Map Use the map to write about your myth. Include: • Characters • Setting • Events • Conflict (problem) • Solution (lesson learned)
