DLI UPDATE – ATLANTIC 2010 • Major number of changes to the organization since April 2009 • We had announced that: • Communications and Library Services Division are now part of Corporate Services • Research Data Centres are now Microdata Access Division • Heather Dryburgh is appointed Manager of the Microdata Access Division as October 1st 2009 ORGANIZATIONAL UPDATES Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada

DLI UPDATE – ATLANTIC 2010 • Wayne Smith was our Assistant Chief Statistician until Friday, April 3rd, 2009 • Janice Vezina was then our new Assistant Chief Statistician and DLI, as part Communications and Library Services Division was then reporting to Corporate Services Field • Janice left after about a month and Wayne took over the two Fields until March 2010 • Michel Cloutier is now the ACS for Corporate Services Field as of March 2010 ORGANIZATIONAL UPDATES Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada

DLI UPDATE – ATLANTIC 2010 • Since February 2010, we were advised that rules concerning all travel, contracts had to be followed. • Travel authorization forms to be signed and approved before travel in order to be covered by insurance • Hotels that are listed in the green pages – where we don’t have to provide justification in terms of costs • Apologize to the participants at the Training the Trainers Session because of this delay to be reimbursed FINANCIAL REQUIREMENTS Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada

DLI UPDATE – ATLANTIC 2010 DLI MEMBERSHIP • New institutions joined the DLI in the past year: • Algoma University • Georgian College • Northern Alberta Institute of Technology • Now have 78 members • Visited Humber College and Georgian College • Met with the Fédération des CÉGEP du Québec • Visited Laurentian University and joined by: • Algoma University • Nipissing University • Lakehead University through Internet conference • Visited Collège Boréal and Cambrian College to invite them to join Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada

DLI UPDATE – ATLANTIC 2010 • Suzanne Drapeau from Nova Scotia College • Jennifer Adams has stepped down and there are discussion for her replacement • Richard Boily from UQAR • Maryna Beaulieu from UM has stepped down and there are discussion for her replacement • Wendy Watkins from Carleton University • Barbara Znamirowsky from Trent will be attending her last meeting and be replaced by Nancy Lemay from University of Ottawa • Margaret Haines, Director, Carleton University Library has joined EAC in April 2009 • Chuck Humphrey from University of Alberta • Walter Piovesan from Simon Fraser. His term is coming up and we will be looking for a replacement • We also have to look at representation from Statistics Canada with the changes in organizational structures EAC MEMBERSHIP Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada

DLI UPDATE – ATLANTIC 2010 • Jennifer Adams has stepped down from the Education Committee • Siobhan Hanratty and Ann Smith are now the Atlantic Regional Training Coordinator • Richard Boily is organizing his last DLI training as Quebec Regional Training Coordinator • A replacement will be taking over for the next one with Maryna Beaulieu as Quebec Regional Training Coordinator • Nicole Doyle has just resigned as Regional Training coordinator • Sandra Keys and Wendy Watkins have been organizing this one • Need to confirm the next Ontario Regional Training Coordinator who will work with Sandra Keys • Jean Blackburn and Gail Curry are still Regional Training Coordinators for the West • Wendy has accepted to take over the chairing of the Education Committee to relieve Chuck until another chair of the Education Committee is named Education Committee Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada

DLI UPDATE – ATLANTIC 2010 • Integrated Metadata Base (IMDB) • All documentation from DLI collection has been transferred to the IMDB • Links the information on the survey to the documentation and vice versa • Makes our new interface work better • Standard Division is bridging IMDB and DDI • IMDB and DDI 3 are very similar and easy to bridge PRESENT PRIORITIES Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada

DLI UPDATE – ATLANTIC 2010 • Other initiatives: • Restructuring of households surveys – streamline the process and standardize outputs • Open PUMF to other market sectors outside of the DLI has been put on hold for now • Keep getting new data as part of the DLI collection • Overall: • It has been a year of movements and changes • We have entered a period of transition Statistics Canada • Statistique Canada
