  2. Mars Mars Mars is the fourth planet from the sun. It is beside our planet Earth!

  3. Mars • Mars has a diameter of 6,792 km across. • That is 53% of the Earth’s diameter. • This means if you put TWO Mars together, it would be a little bigger than ONE planet Earth!

  4. Mars • The daytime temperature of Mars is 80⁰F on a good summer day. • The daytime temperature of a nice winter day is about -200⁰F • The air temperature rarely gets above 32⁰F

  5. Mars Mars has a dusty surface! It is covered with a thin layer of iron dioxide. This gives Mars it’s red color!

  6. Mars • Mars is the planet that is most likely to have obtained life. • In the early days of exploration of planets, • people were afraid of Martians attacking the Earth! • The book The War of the Worlds was made about this and Americans were scared!

  7. Jupiter • Jupiter is the fifth planet • from the sun. • Its surface looks striped because of • the clouds that cover it.

  8. Jupiter • Jupiter is the largest planet in • our solar system. • Its average temperature is -235⁰F. • Why do you think it is so cold on Jupiter?

  9. Jupiter Jupiter acts as a vacuum and collects comets, asteroids, and meteorites! This can prevent some of these dangerous things from hitting our planet Earth!
