  1. RegCM sensitivity simulations: Land use effects in Eastern Europe Group 15 Mladek, Onol, Tomingas

  2. Domain Parameters Grid box: 60x45 Resolution: 50x50 km Central point: 44 N, 35 E Nr. of vertical levels: 18 Data type: ECMWF Map projection: Lambert Conformal Convection scheme: Grell Closure scheme: Fritsch - Chappell Simulation period: May 1994

  3. Simulations Control run (no changes) 1: Small lakes replaced with crop/mixed farming 2: Black Sea replaced with crop/mixed farming 3: Irrigation project in Turkey (GAP)

  4. Control vs. Analysis

  5. Control vs. CRU

  6. Experiment 1

  7. Experiment 2

  8. Vert. Profiles EXP1, EXP2

  9. Experiment 3

  10. Final Remarks • Small change in land use can trigger quite big response in precipitation (noise) • Without Black Sea precipitation increase (May 1994) • 1 month run is not enough to capture climate

  11. Thank You!
