“Girls” is a selection which originally appeared in The New Yorker. • It vividly narrates a relationship between a powerful mother and her young daughter and confronts us with the advice the daughter must listen to. ----- “this is how you sweep a corner.” ----- “this is how you sweep a whole house.” ----- “this is how you sweep a yard.”
My view of “Girls” • It reflects a relationship between author and her mother. This article shows a mother’s awareness of her daughter. • Girls are always weak, not only on the basis of physical, but also biological. • Girls in need of teaching, monitoring, and continual supervision, in order to prevent get hurt.
