‘Through the Eyes of a Child’ A joint project between Middlesex University, Hendon School and Aseema Imagining the Olympic Values through the eyes of a child
So, what is ‘Inspire’? ‘Inspire’ officially recognises all those non-commercial projects and events inspired by the Games coming to the UK. This is about innovative projects that have been inspired by the 2012 Games. Projects that are about excellence, personal best and participation. ‘Through the Eyes of a Child’ is one such event!
Project brief Background • By participating in this photography competition, you are all part of the ‘Inspired by London 2012’ Programme. This is an official programme of the London Olympic and Paralympic Games • This is a joint initiative between Middlesex University, Hendon School and Aseema (a school for underprivileged children in Mumbai, India) • The children from India are also taking pictures, although they will not be part of the competition. • All photographs entered will be uploaded to the eyes of a child website • A selection of photographs will be printed and framed and be part of a photograph exhibition: ‘Through the Eyes of a Child’
Project brief The Olympic and Paralympic values are: • Respect (Olympic) • Excellence (Olympic) • Friendship (Olympic) • Courage (Paralympic) • Determination (Paralympic) • Inspiration (Paralympic) • Equality (Paralympic)
Project brief • All of these values relate to the Games and can be seen in a sporting context. However these words also have an everyday meaning • You must use your own understanding of the values and take a picture which in your mind reflects that value • This is solely your interpretation • You must then, in no more than 40 words describe why this picture represents that value
