Steps to Job-Search Success • Start early-6 mo. To 1 year in advance • Start with the Career Center (assesses your skills, resume help, interview prep, job leads, etc.) • Research industries, jobs and employers-see if the company is right for you • Network-Call on anyone who can help

What Else are Employers Looking For? (no order) • Gpa • Related experience • Consistency and upward mobility (held job for a couple of years) • Specific qualities (to train easily-teamwork, good communication skills) • Volunteer experience • Out-of-the-ordinary experience (study abroad, etc.)
Show The Employer You Are The Best Candidate • Make your resume as good as it can be • Research the employer and connect your skills to their needs • Demonstrate your soft skills (communication, interpersonal, etc.) • Be prepared for your interview (be on time, be honest, be realistic, be open-minded, be professional, etc.)
Is That Employer Right For You? • Research, research, research • Is the salary right? • Do the benefits outweigh the salary? • Does the companies career ladder meet your goals? • Look at where the companies opportunities are.
