Odette informs the prince that Von Rothbart, an evil sorcerer who is disguised as the prince’s mentor, turned her and the other girls into swans and the lake is made out of tears wept by their parents. Because of this tragedy, in order for the spell to be broken, prince Siegfried has to pledge his true love for her; however, as he was about to confess his true love for her, the evil sorcerer interrupts as he takes Odette from Prince Siegfried’s embrace and demands the swans to dance upon the lake so the prince will not be able to chase them. Act three of swan lake • The following day, Prince Siegfried is presented by many princesses at the Royal Hall. Although he was presented by many princesses, he still cannot stop thinking about Odette. When his mother commands him to pick one of the princesses as his bride, he rejects it; however though, he does accept his mother’s request of dancing with them. As the trumpets announce the arrival of Von Rothbart, he is shown to appear with his daughter Odile, who he has cast a spell on to appear as Odette.
