NS 1.1 Compare and order positive and negative fractions, decimals, and mixed numbers and place them on a number line
Convert them into equivalent fractions that have a common denominator, then compare the numerators. • How do we compare fractions?
Line up the decimal points vertically and compare from left to right. • How do we compare decimals?
1.992.032.42.00 • 2.4, 2.03, 2, 1.99 • Order from greatest to least: 1.99, 2.03, 2.4, 2
Convert the fractions into decimal form by doing long division. • How do we compare fractions and decimals?
Direct Station • We will work together on comparing decimal and fraction problems
Collaborative Station: Dominoes • To connect two dominoes, the sides that touch must have the same value. • One side will be a fractionand the other side willbe a decimal. You andyour partner must calculatewhich dominoes may be placednext to each other. • Example: ½ = 0.5 so if one domino has ½ and other domino has 0.5, you may place the dominoes together as long as the ½ and 0.5 ends are touching.
Independent Station • We are continuing ST Math’s unit on equations
