Skip the Word, Then Come Back • When you come to a word you don’t know, skip over the word until they come to the end of the sentence. • Then back up and reread the sentence again, using the first letter or letters of the skipped word and their context clues to decode the unknown word. • Stretch out the word, saying the beginning, middle, and ending sounds.
