Skip the Word, Then Come Back • When you come to a word you don’t know, skip over the word until they come to the end of the sentence. • Then back up and reread the sentence again, using the first letter or letters of the skipped word and their context clues to decode the unknown word. • Stretch out the word, saying the beginning, middle, and ending sounds.

  3. Lets practice using the strategy “Skip the Word, Then Come Back” using the interactive game on the next slides. Click on the word at the bottom of each of the following slides.
