    1. Chloroplast COME BACK! By: Eric Vetterlein, Bryan Pollard, Ryan Fallon, Jack Sigillito

    2. Where does photosythesis Occur? It occurs in chloroplast In a plant cell

    3. How do plants and animals obtain energy? Plants are autotrophs Animals are heterotrophs

    4. What are animal cells not capable of carrying out photosynthesis? They don’t have chloroplast so they can’t perform photosynthesis

    5. List the three main events that make up photosynthesis Light absorption Light dependent Light independent

    6. Light absorption

    7. Light dependent

    8. Light independent

    9. Photosynthesis and Respiration can be summarized into equations. Write the equations and how do they relate to one another? Photosynthesis = 6 carbon dioxide + 6 water + sunlight ? glucose + 6 oxygen C6H12O6 + 6O2 + 6 enzyme ? 6CO2 + 6H2O + 6 energy

    10. What is role of water in Photosynthesis? Water gives plants a replacement electron

    11. What are the reactants of the light reactions? What are the product? Reactants ADP NADPH Pi H20 Light Products O2 ATP NADPH

    12. What are the reactants of the light-independent reaction? What are the products? Reactants ATP NADPH CO2 Product Sugar ADP NADP+ Pi

    13. What ATP is, how it is formed, and what is its role in photosynthesis? Storage for the light energy, it stores the light energy

    14. Analyze why leaves change color in autumn Leaves absorb less light energy

    15. Analyze why leaves change colors in autumn? Usually leaves absorb sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water It lets out glucose which makes leaves green. In the fall leaves absorb less sunlight, causing them to change colors.

    16. What combination of enviormental factors would produce an optimum rate of photosynthesis for most plants? Light increasing Carbon dioxide Contains a certain range of temp. Location Type of plant Condition Size

    17. Distinguish between the light and dark reactions of photosynthesis Light Occurs in the Thylokoid Sunlight is converted to chemical energy Oxygen is released through the stroma Dark It occurs in the stroma CO2 is converted into carbon fixation

    18. Continued Chlorophyll absorbs light which produces ATP and NADPH and Oxygen Glucose and frutose molecules are turned into a source of sugar

    19. What are important to plants in an ecosystem? Plants breathe in CO2 and exhale oxygen Plants are a producer so they feed animals They filter water Plants cool off their immediate environment They reduce wind speed in urbanized areas

    20. Exit slip I think our group has come very far and I am confident that we will have a good presintation tommorow, because we really started to understand the information. I think the only think we will have trouble with is the diagrams, but some of us understand them so we will be showing the diagrams.
