  1. Bob trained at Wellington Polytechnic in 1975 under Wally Weavers. • He worked for many years as the Tawa Borough Environmental Health Officer before joining Wellington City Council when the borough amalgamated with the city. • From 2000 – the end of 2007 he was Team Leader of Public Health Group at Wellington City Council.

  2. He joined NZFSA late in 2007as the Manager Local Government Liaison and continued in this position when NZFSA merged with MAF. • He was the champion of the Voluntary Implementation Programme (VIP) and a key player in the implementation of the ‘Off the Peg’ Food Safety Programmes.

  3. Bob was a long time member of the New Zealand Institute of Environmental Health and at his death was the current President of the Wellington Centre. • He was an exemplary staff member and his dedication to our relationship with TA and domestic food matters including VIP and the Food Bill preparation and implementation did not falter – even while receiving treatment.

  5. 1 September 2011 in a letter to Bob . . . ‘Every member of the meeting spoke with admiration and gratitude for the efforts that you have put into food safety within our region. We wish you the very best’ Canterbury Cluster group

  6. 21 September 2011 ‘It is with sadness that I write this given the passing away of our illustrious leader Bob. He was a special person who gave people time and faithfully served our group.’ Leonie - Bay of Plenty cluster

  7. 21 September 2011 ‘Very rarely do you get such a down to earth bloke in a position such as his, being able to relate so well to all EHO's through out the country. Professionally I saw him as our captain -leading the OTP-FCP Enterprise into areas where 'no man had been before'.  Personally he was a bloody good bugger. ’ Shane – Taupo District Council

  13. From Bob’s wife Jean - ‘Can you please pass out a big thank you from my family and I for all the cards and emails. The kind words as to how Bob touched your lives is amazing. He was a very special person that was held in high regard, both in his field of work and personally.
