  2. Whatdoesbiodiversitymean? • Biodiversity is a degree of variation of lifeforms within agiven species, ecosystem, biome, or an entire planet. • Biodiversityconsernsthespecies, theirgeneticpropertiesandtheecosystem.

  3. Thehotspotsofbiodiversity • ThehotspotsofEarth or thespotsofcongestion are theareaswith a big numberofdifferentspecies. • Slovenia is byitsrithchesness one oftheritchestcountriesofEurope, (around 23000 species are listed in Slovenia).

Thereasonsforthreatsandthelossesofbiodiversity • Thechanges in agriculture • Theover-exploitationofspeciesforhunting or somethingelse • Thedestructionofnaturalhabitats (theuncontroledspreadof urban areas, theintroductionofagriculture on aresofpreserved nature) • Thedevelopementofinfrastructure (thebuildingofhighways) • Pollution – oftheair, thegroundwithpollutedwater, theexhausts, pesticides, …

  5. Theindangeredspecies in Slovenia • In Sloveniathesespecies are indangered: • 90 % speciesofamphibian, • 83 % speciesofreptile, • 58 % speciesofbirds, • 61 % speciesoffish, • 43 % speciesofmammals
