  2. NAČRTOVANE AKTIVNOSTI / ACTIVITIES PLANED • WP 2.Risk Management • Task 2.2.Preparation of measures to reduce the influence of the most negatively acting forces • Subtask 2.2.1 Assessment of plants for artificial groundwater recharge as a tool for ensuring drinking water supply in areas with increased groundwater quality risk • Assessment of monitoring results (Phase 1 & 2) • Subtask 2.2.5 Operation of artificial groundwater recharge facility in Fluttendorf/Donnersdorf; monitoring, modeling • Scientific supervision of the monitoring facility • Monitoring of the artificial groundwater recharge facility • Scientific supervision on in-situ remediation of iron and manganese • Scientific supervision of monitoring in-situ remediation of iron and manganese

  3. NAČRTOVANE AKTIVNOSTI / ACTIVITIES PLANED • WP 4.Regional Cooperation and Dissemination ofResults • Task 4.1.Workshops and excursions to complexes with artificial groundwater recharge • Technical field trip: “Groundwater recharge and iron and manganese in aquifers” • Excursion: „in-situ remediation Niederösterreich andOberösterreich“ • Excursion:„artificial ground water recharge facilities and water treatment plants in the brown coal mining region Gartzweiler(Germany)” • Workshop with tenders:“facilities for sub-terrestrian in-situ remediation”

  4. IZVEDENO DELO / WORK DONE • Allintendedactivitiesfortheperiod 07/2011 – 06/2012 hasbeenoperatedby Partner GSO asplanned • The resultsoftheoperatedactivitieshasbeendocumented in reports, whichareavailableatthepartnersoffice • Based on theresultsoftheactivities in task 4.1 a subterrestrian in-situ remediationfacility „FERMANOX“ hasbeenimplemented • Isotope investigationsandthermodynamicgeohydrochemicalmodelinghasbeendonetodeterminetheoriginofrechargewater • Additional Investigation on pesticideconcentration in thegroundwaterofwatersupplywellsof GSO hasbeendone in cooperationwith PHI • TwoAdditional excursionswithexperts on artificialgroundwaterrechargeandgroundwatermanagementhasbeenorganizedandoperated

  6. REZULTATI / RESULTS Subterrestrian in-situ remediationas an effectivetooltotreatthegroundwaterbeforeartificialinfiltration

  7. REZULTATI / RESULTS Artificialrechargeis an effectivetooltoreducenitrateconcentration in drinkingwaterusingdelutioneffects. Monitoring in thefieldandtheuseof on-line sensorsis essential foroptimizationoftheoperationmode.

  8. RAZMERJA DO DRUGIH DP / RELATIONS TO OTHER PARTNERS • Partizipation of GSO and external experts on technical excursions and workshops organized by Slowenian partners • Modeling tools developed by Partner STY will be used to determine groundwater recharge and nitrate leaching on a regional scale • Coupled model developed by Partner STY will be used to determine the impact of different agricultural and meteorological scenarios on groundwater flow and nitrate distribution in the catchment of the GSO water supply wells • Weather data and monitoring results will be visualized in the WEB-based information system developed by Partner STY • The type of artificial groundwater recharge facility as developed by GSO will be offered as a tool for other partners to ensure groundwater quantity and quality in the projects region

  9. ČASOVNICA - NAČRT AKTIVNOSTI / ACTIVITIES PLANNED BY PARTNER • WP 2.Risk Management • Task 2.2.Preparation of measures to reduce the influence of the most negatively acting forces • Subtask 2.2.1 Assessment of plants for artificial groundwater recharge as a tool for ensuring drinking water supply in areas with increased groundwater quality risk • Assessment of monitoring results (Phase 3 – Report 02/2013) • Subtask 2.2.5 Operation of artificial groundwater recharge facility in Fluttendorf/Donnersdorf; monitoring, modeling • Monitoring of the artificial groundwater recharge facility (Phase 3 – Report 02/2013)

  10. ČASOVNICA - NAČRT AKTIVNOSTI / ACTIVITIES PLANNED BY PARTNER • WP 3.Definition of measures • Task 3.4.Development of scenarios to predict groundwater recharge and nitrogen leaching with regard to climate effects and modifications of agricultural practices. • Modelling of groundwater recharge and nitrate leaching in the catchment of the water supply wells Fluttendorf / Donnersdorf using Stotra_Pgen(Report 06/2013)

  11. ČASOVNICA - NAČRT AKTIVNOSTI / ACTIVITIES PLANNED BY PARTNER • Task 3.5.Modeling of the effects of artificial groundwater recharge on groundwater flow and solute transport; Use of coupled models as tools for control of artificial groundwater recharge on different locations in the border region. • Adaption of the geometry of an existing groundwater flow and transport model for the catchment area of the wells Fluttendorf / Donnersdorf based on the results of monitoring programs (R 12/2012) • Extension of the groundwater flow and transport model to the period of intensive monitoring; model calibration and model validation based on monitoring results and on modeling of the unsaturated zone (R 06/2013) • Scenario definition and scenario modeling (R 12/2013) • Evaluation of the sustainability of artificial groundwater recharge; definition of optimal long-term monitoring program; guideline for further operation (Report 06/2014)
