Roles and Responsibilities of Local Extension Educators • Develop a relationship with local feed retailers. • Explain concept to the feed retailers. • Recruit feed retailers to participate. • Gain commitment and pass along messages. • Gather contact information. • Compile information in county database. • Maintain relationships and database.
Maintaining the Network Requires Local Extension Educators to… • Maintain relationships with local feed retailers. • Maintain county-level feed retailer database. • Monitor email, fax, phone messages for alerts. • Relay alerts to feed retailers. • Report any changes in the number of participating feed retailers in their county.
Keys to Success • Relationships between Extension educators and local feed retailers • Accurate messages from the State Veterinarian to local livestock and poultry owners • Active maintenance of the Network
Monitoring Diffusion • Local Extension Educators are requested to update administrators annually regarding participant numbers. • Information forwarded to the FAZD Center will be reported to the Department of Homeland Security.
