Lesson 3 Objectives By the end of this lesson, you will be able to: • Update appropriate metadata fields in Websphere Accelerator. • Save metadata changes in the extended sites store. • Update the price field on storefront. It should take you approximately 40 minutes to complete Lesson 3.
Update Storefront metadata • Create pricing specials • Build packages or kits • Make course available in Master Catalog
Megasite vs. Extended Site There are 2 major “stores” product line managers will work in to make changes, the extended sites store and Megasite. Extended sites store is the root store and all changes but price filter from the extended sites store to the portals, including your direct portal. There may be program description or discount that you want to apply to a course that only impacts the company and not the customers. This change would only occur on megasite.
Catalog Tree • The ecommerce catalog is where you will need to make changes to course metadata, including pricing in order for this information to filter to the stores. It is easy to access the catalog tree once you are inside the extended sites store. Keep expanding the tree until you have drilled down to your personal course group.
It is important that you remember to save all of your changes. If you do not save or do not get a message to save, your changes may not be applied to the storefront.
Activity • Do not log out of LMS to complete this activity. • Log into Websphere Accelerator • Using the course you updated in Lesson 1, find that course on the catalog tree. • Add a short description, add audience, and language information. • Save your changes. • Do not log out of Websphere and return to the training course.
Pricing, Offer, List You can set the list price Set an offer price Set tiered pricing
Activity • Do not log out of LMS to complete this activity. • Return to Websphere Accelerator (login again if you were timed out.) • Using the course you updated in Lesson 1, find that course on the catalog tree of the extended sites store. • Update the pricing on the course to reflect an offer price of 10% off your list. • Create tiered pricing for up to 100 seats. • Save your changes. • Repeat these steps in the megasite store.
Knowledge Check • Which one of these metadata fields must be updated in Websphere Accelerator? • Course Name • Price • Course Description • None of the above • Which field is not found in accelerator, but in LCMS? • Course Outline • Learning Objectives • Vendor Information • None of the Above • You only need to save metadata changes in storefront? • If you save changes in accelerator, they are visible to the public if they are visible on the catalog. • You cannot update price in Websphere Accelerator.
Websphere accelerator is the storefront database management system. • All changes except price are filtered to the direct portals and megasite from extended sites. • It allows the product line manager the ability to manage pricing, content, and structure on the forward facing store.
End of Course Instructions You have reached the end of your course. Any changes you have made to your course catalog that should not be live should be deleted, retired, or archived.
