THE PURPOSE • In order to assist you with your answering techniques for exam/nab style questions, you need to be aware of how important it is to ensure you are using the correct Business Management terminology. • This is by no means exhaustive and is meant to compliment your learning. • Examples are given to point you in the right direction as to how to construct the “perfect answer.
IDENTIFY • Identify – give the name or identify characteristics of something.

OUTLINE • Outline – State the main features.
COMPARE • Compare – Identify similarities and differences between two or more factors.
DISTINGUISH • Distinguish – identify the differences between two or more factors.
DESCRIBE • Describe – Provide a thorough description
EXPLAIN • Explain – Give a detailed response (definition with explanation) as to how/why something may benefit/hinder.
DISCUSS • Discuss – examine closely taking account of strengths and weaknesses in an argument; offer reasons for and against.
JUSTIFY • Justify – give reasons to support suggestions, conclusions
