Symptoms • Fever • Headache • Confusion • Seizures • Sleepiness • Stiff neck • Sensitivity to light • Lack of interest in eating or drinking • Skin rash
Frequency • More than 10,000 cases annually • Underreported
Transmittance • Fecal-oral route • Infected respiratory secretions
Treatment • Pain medication for headaches • Rest • Fluids • Antiviral medication
Risk • Drops with age • Most common in late summer early fall
Precautions • MMR vaccine • Hand washing
