Welsh Language Discrimination:

2. The Welsh Just Did Not Care • Teaching of English to “under privileged” kids in Asia/Latin countries. • Swedish TV is in English with subtitles because dubbing it would “ruin it.” • Immigrant children often forsake their heritage for the sake of fitting in. • Loss of Hebrew in Jewish Culture.

3. The British Made Them Do It • Stamp Act, Tea Taxes, and other such nonsense against the Americans. • India. Need I say more? • Indigenous People? • America, Autstralia, etc… • Everything in English in Welsh courts and it was illegal to talk in anything but English • Allowed Indian courts to use interpreters, but not in the Welsh courts.

What I Did • Looked through historic documents to find evidence of the British suppressing the Welsh language. • If the British passed rulings meant to suppress the language, they’ll get one point. • If the British allowed the Welsh language to thrive, they’ll get minus one point. • If the Welsh let them get away with the suppression, they’ll get one point for uncaring. • If the Welsh protested the British actions, they’ll get minus one point.

5. What I Found • The British did suppress the Welsh language while allowing other colonies to maintain some of their history.
