  9. College and Career Center Freshmen are always welcome in the CCC! Stop by during lunch/study hall hours to: • Attend college and career presentations • Use Naviance to research career and college options • Signup to go on fieldtrips • Find out the latest career trends • Have a conversation with Mr. Rathje about YOUR future! *Remember, A’s and B’s get degrees! Colleges look at all 4 years of your high school education, so give it YOUR BEST!!

GSBF (Give Something Back Foundation) • There is a scholarship that is only available to high school freshmen who live in Aurora!   • 50 students in Illinois each year receive a full-ride to attend 1 of 4 schools: • University of Illinois • Blackburn College • Illinois State University • Lewis University • The scholarship has three steps: • Attend information session on October 17th at 7:30PM in the Atrium • Complete the College Cost Estimator  • Complete the scholarship application  • Applicants must: • Attain and maintain a 3.0 high school GPA • Be Pell Grant eligible (low income and a US Citizen or Legal Resident) • Be a person of good character (being involved in clubs and sports helps) • Visit the College and Career Center for more information!

Passing Classes = Credits EarnedPasando Clases = Créditos Ganados • CADA clase pasada es 0.5 créditos acumulados. • Esto INCLUYE PE/NJROTC/Band, clases electivas, clases de leer • Normalmente estudiantes del grado 9 toman 6 clases cada SEMESTRE. • Eso seria 3.0 créditos totales para el semestre. • 2 semestres por año escolar = 6 créditos para el AÑO NECESITA PASAR A LO MENOS 11 CLASES ESTE AÑO PARA PASAR AL GRADO 10! • EACH class passed is equal to 0.5 credits. • INCLUDING PE/NJROTC/Band and Electives and Reading • Typical Freshmen will take 6 classes each SEMESTER. • This equals 3.0 total credits for the semester • Two semesters per school year = 6 credits for the YEAR YOU NEED TO PASS AT LEAST 11 CLASSES THIS SCHOOL YEAR TO BE A SOPHOMORE NEXT YEAR!

Graduation RequisitosRequirements para Graduación • 22 CREDITOS PARA GRADUARSE (44 CLASES) • Grado 10: 5.5 créditos • Grado 11: 11 créditos • Grado 12: 16 créditos • Obtienes 0.5 créditos por cada clase que pasas en el semestre. Puedes obtener 6.0 créditos por año escolar. • 22 CREDITS TO GRADUATE (44 CLASSES) • Sophomore Status: 5.5 Credits *Sophomore status needed to be eligible for driver’s education* • Junior Status: 11 credits • Senior Status: 16 credits • You earn 0.5 credits per each semester class. You have the potential to earn 6.0 credits per year during the regular school day.
