  2. This Evening’s Intentions • CfE -What’s gone before? • CfE - Where are we now? • CfE - What lies ahead? • Homework Diary Planner- so what? • What do you do when you study? • What else can parents do to help?

  3. Cfe - What’s gone before? • Broad general education through experiences and outcomes at first, second and third levels. • Active learning in the classroom – skills for the 21st century. • Personalisation and choice. • Connections across subject boundaries- interdisciplinary learning.

  4. CfE – Where are we now? • Choice – 8 subjects, some with new titles, but continuity with S1, S2. • Choice – but still broad education, still active learning, still Skills for 21st century. • Broad education still based on experiences and outcomes now mainly fourth level. • Masterclass menu.

  6. What lies ahead? • Preparation for Senior Phase. • Be Here, Be Prepared, BeHave. • Regular homework and study. • Interim report 15th Nov 2012. • Parents evening 12th Mar 2013. • Options programme end 27 Mar 2013 • Exam diet 15th April – 10th May 2013. • Full parental report 5th Jun 2013.

  7. Senior Phase • what we used to call S4/5/6. • years of National Qualifications. • S4 pupils choose 7 subjects, 4 periods per week. • Nat 3 or Nat 4 or Nat 5 in each subject • S5 and S6 pupils choose 5 subjects, 6 periods per week. • Nat 5 or Higher or Advanced Higher in each subject.

National Qualifications • Nat 3 equivalent to Foundation level, assessed in school • Nat 4 equivalent to General level and Int 1, assessed in school • Nat 5 equivalent to Credit level and Int 2, assessed by national exam • Higher remains, assessed by national exam • Advanced Higher remains, assessed by national exam
