Biography • Masaccio, born Tomasso di Ser Giovanni di Simone, was considered one of the best painters of his time, being one of the first to employ techniques such as vanishing point (used for 3 dimensional painting) perspective (not profile or head on) and chiaroscuro (Using light and dark to emphasize certain parts of the painting), Unfortunately he died at the age of 26, leaving only paintings such as The Trinity, Virgin and Child with Saint Anne,  and his various works in the Brancacci Chapel.
