Masaccio (1401-1428) Born in San Giovanni Valdamo, Republic of Florence. He is one of the first painters of the late medieval period and early Renaissance period. He was changing the style of painting by recreating lifelike figures and movements as well as a exceptional sense of three-dimensionality. During his career, he was the first to introduce linear perspective in his painting, employing techniques such as vanishing point in art for the first time. He also began to move away from the Gothic style for greater realism.
