Collaboration Due to Picsara’s ability to serve a whole hospital or trust, it’s easy to share images between various disciplines in a secure manner. An example would be Endoscopy and Pathology. It’s possible to set up rights for a Pathologist to for example only view images in the Endoscopy department and yet have full rights while in the Pathology department and vice versa. This can also be managed by the central HIS system. Endoscopy dept. Pathology dept.
Analysis • In the basic version, simple area and length can be measured. • Options: • The analysis module will give you more advanced features and measurements can be stored in the database and/or exported to Excel. Interactive measurements with your own Excel templates can be performed. • with the blob module you can threshold on light intensity (B/W analysis). • The script engine will let you run scripts built with the scrip builder. This is where the advanced user can build his own scripts involving colour analysis and other advanced features. The other users can then share the scripts by using the engine. • As a last step tailored analysis methods can be offered. Please contact your reseller for more info.
Macro or exterior photo • There are a number of cameras that can be used for Macro images in Picsara: • Canon SLRs like 20,30 or 40D can be connected directly to Picsara via a USB cable or wireless. This can be useful when doing autopsy for example. With the camera connected you can always be sure not to mix up images and memory cards. • A video/DV camera can be connected for recording various procedures for educational purposes. These films can be stored in a separate department or form to avoid being mixed up with clinical images. • A dedicated Macro stand with a HDV camera and foot controls for zoom and grabbing is also available. This gives a high resolution preview on the screen.
