Composts Landfills Incinerators Garbage
Protect your Environment: • Many resources are nonrenewable, so, we should protect them. • Conservation is saving resources by using them wisely. • Ways to protect the Environment: 1. Conserving resources 2. Preventing pollution 3. Cleaning up pollution
Reduce • Reduce: To use less of a resource. • Examples: 1) Use less water by taking showers instead of bath. 2) Use less electricity by turning the TV off when you are not watching it, and by turning off lights.
Reuse • Reuse: To use a resource again and again. • Benefits of reusing: a) helps reduce the amount of resources that would be needed to make new things. b) saves people money. • Examples: 1) Wear clothes that no longer fit my older brother or sister. 2) Fixing toys when broken instead of buying new ones.
Recycle • Recycle: To reuse a resource by breaking it down and using it to make a new product. • Paper, glass, aluminum from cans, and some plastics can be recycled. • Examples of recycled materials: 1) Paper that is recycled can be used to make cards, paper towels, and newspaper. 2) Plastic that is recycled can be used to make park benches and doormats.
