Front Range GigaPoP (FRGP) • http://www.frgp.net • Continued LANDER support and partnership • PerfSonar in the FRGP continues to expand and be a valuable tool • Starting new 5-year agreement cycle 7/1/14 • New agreements • Completely new cost model • Increased costs due to shifts from UCAR • Some smaller users moving to EAGLE-Net due to cost increases

FRGP Cont’d • Upgraded connection to ESnet to 2x10G • Colocation updates • 1850 Pearl – major move covered under NLR • 1200 Larimer – No change • 910 15th – No change • Continued steady growth in all traffic (peering, commodity, I2, etc.) • Future participants: • NEON • Jefferson County School District • CSU-P • Colorado College • State of Wyoming 4

  5. FRGP Cont’d • Peering – No change • 10G Google peering active at 910 • Comcast • TR/CPS – largest single FRGP/UPoP usage • Akamai • Netflix active at 1850 Pearl • Coresite/Any2 • Open to other peering opportunities • 95th Percentiles - Member port maximum and 95th percentiles 4

  7. Bi-State Optical Network (BiSON) • Expanding to: • National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) • CSU-P • Colorado College • UC-CS • USDA • Jefferson County School District • New full/half participant model • Continuing to build ADVA replacement fundand upgrade to 100G 4

  8. UCAR Point of Presence (UPoP) • http://upop.ucar.edu • UPoP being integrated into the FRGP and will cease to be a separate entity with the flattening of the new FRGP cost model

Internet2 • NET+ roll out • Expansion to further RONs on hold pending I2 • Considering having third party, MERIT, manage for FRGP • Marla co-chairing I2 Diversity Initiative – starting Spring 2013 • I2 Global Summit in Denver, April 2014 • Pat Burns Program Chair • Pat Burns won the Rose Award 4

Internet2 • Steve and Marla participating in I2 Network/Connector call/meeting agenda development • Retreat in KC in June • Discuss the evolution in the R&E networking ecosystem • Opportunities to collectively serve national organizations such as PBS, USDA, etc. and how we work together to create solutions. • Network architecture that includes both Internet2 and the regionals in support of “friction-free” science and innovation among the research universities. 4

  11. NLR/CBREC • NLR ceased operation 3/17/14 with less than 60 days notice (original shutdown scheduled 2/17/14) • Services moved: • NWAVE lambdas • TeliaSonera service • Level3 colocation • WRN 10G lambdas • KC to SLC move for redundancy/performance • Tremendous help from I2 and Level3!! 4

  12. CDOT • Lots of fiber activity in various parts of the State • I-25 build – nearly complete by EAGLE-Net • US36 fiber into Boulder of great interest – ongoing discussion • Southern Colorado • CDOT/Higher Ed Fiber Map 4

  13. WRN • Regular WTC and WPC calls • WRN I2 KC Move to Chicago – complete • 50Gbps • NSF ARI award • 100G ports in LA, Seattle, and Chicago • Upgrading WRN to 100G using Ciena optics in I2 WDM hardware and 100G Brocade switches 4
