4. Shenandoah Valley Science Symposium Planning Committee • How to use KZO Video Chat: • The major benefit to the KZO Video Chat is there is nothing to download – it is browser-based and Flash is on 99% of computers. Furthermore, the Flash video is not blocked by firewalls so you don’t have to beg the IT department to open a port. • You have two options, “Host a Conference” which allows you to create your own Video Chat Room, or “Join a Conference” which allows you to join an existing Video Chat Conference. • Host a Conference: This option allows you to host your own Video Chat Room and invite up to 5 additional attendees. Hosting your own conference requires you register with the system, which you can do by simply clicking the “Register” button. Upon registering, you are sent directly to your room, and a link to share the room with others is provided in the chat box on the bottom of the page. • If you have already registered, simply login using the username and password you created and click “Create Room”. Below the login information, an option is given to you to password protect the room for more secure communication. You may leave this field blank if you do not wish to require a password. • Join a Conference: Select this option if you wish to join someone else’s conference. You simply type in your name, and the room you wish to join. The room name is the username of the person hosting the conference. • Auto-Joining a Conference: If an invitation link was sent to you, clicking on the link will send you directly to the “Join a Conference” screen, and will fill in the name of the room automatically for you. All you have to do is enter your name and click the “Join Room” button.
