  2. The Catalyst • The frustrating Hierarchical Menu

  3. The Idea and the Inspiration • The inspiration for this idea was the Fisheye Menu. • Create a combination of the Fisheye Menu and a hierarchical list of items.

  4. The Problem • Although most people thought the Fisheye Menu was aesthetically pleasing, no one liked the way it operated. • So, Back to the drawing board . . .

  5. The New Idea • The new concept needed to satisfy a couple criteria • It needed to display comparable amounts of data to the fisheye menu. • It needed to be simple, efficient and easy to learn.

  7. IMenu Advantages • Uses a detail and overview strategy to display large amounts of data • Simple configuration limits hand movement to forward and backward, allowing users to more easily watch the important sections of the screen. • Scrolling speeds are comparable to the fisheye menu

  10. The Future • Some ideas have been implemented already. • Top location of the detail window • Scrolling detail window • (take a look at the IMenu Browser example • Some still need to be added The inclusion of multiple sub – IMenu’s to form an hierarchical IMenu .
