  1. Heaven -and- Hell Week 4

  2. What will the future heaven be like? The Doctrine of Continuity The Doctrine of Continuity states that what is done for Christ in this life carries over into the next life (eternity). Some things that are continuous are:1) Character of God “I the Lord do not change.” Malachi 3:6 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.” Hebrews 13:8 2) God’s unfolding story of redemption 3) God’s moral laws

  3. What will the future heaven be like? The Doctrine of Continuity The apostles assumed that most Jewish laws would continue. Are there some things that didn’t continue? Yes… Acts 10:9-16 1) The dietary laws 2) The Jewish sacrificial system Hebrews 9:24-28 Hebrews 8:7-13 3) The Jewish Law/Old Covenant The general rule is things will continue unless specifically addressed. Because of this, Jewish Christians assumed that God’s character and moral laws did not change; although penalties for violating them did change in other countries outside of Israel.

  4. What will the future heaven be like? Doctrine of Continuity Judgment Seat of Christ…1st Corinthians 3:10-15 “By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. 6. What will the future heaven be like? Doctrine of Continuity Judgment Seat of Christ…1st Corinthians 3:10-15 “If what he has build survives, he will receive his reward. If it is burned up, he will suffer loss;he himself will be saved, but only as one escaping through the flames.”

  7. What will the future heaven be like? Doctrine of Continuity Revelation 21:24-27 “The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is harmful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb’s book of life.”
