Nine potential questions to help choose the eLearning team. • What are the business goals? • What are the performance goals? • What are the learning goals? • What is the instructional strategy? • What types of eLearning will be used? • What is the design strategy? • What technology is required? • Are there any required people? • What to outsource? (What to pay someone else to do?)

  5. Who is on an eLearning Team? • Project Managers • Instructional Designers • Subject Matter Experts • Programmers • Writers • Graphic Artists, Videographers, and Animators • Quality Controllers

  6. Project Managers • Formal Leader • Works closely with all group members • Duties • Budget, resources, and scheduling • Manage workload, processes, and communication for the team

  7. Instructional Designers • Design the course into an organized and solid presentation. • Works closely with the SME and the programmers.

  8. Subject Matter Expert (SME) • Responsible for: • Accurate content • Technical language • Source material • Performance objectives • SME’s also offer help to the instructional designer, which is commonly overlooked.

Programmers • Responsible for: • Assembling the text, graphics, and animations. • Combining the content and other attributes provided into an appropriate delivery form. • Develop the scripts that translate interactive activities. • Works closely with Project Manager and Instructional Designer to keep on task of the learning objectives.

  10. Writers • Write the text content for the course. • Works closely with Project Manager and Quality Controllers to assure the written work complements the intent of the Instructional Designers and the SMEs.

  11. Graphic Artists, Videographers, and Animators • Need to know the newest software programs • Need to create the instructional design

  12. Quality Controllers • Checks for accuracy, functionality, and design. • (All team members need to take part in this in the development process)

  14. Making the most of an eLearning Team • Get to know other people in your department or company. You can help one another on different types of projects. • The success of your e-learning project depends on assembling the right team. For each of the functions required for your project, specify the job title and ideal person for the job. The same job title can be assigned to more than one person and more than one person can be placed on one complex function.
