5. Plot Summary • Set 20,000 years back, our planet Earth is entering an ice age. All animals are immigrating to the south in search of warmer climates. The film starts off with Scrat trying to find a secure location to hide his prized acorn. While trying to do so, he results in causing an avalanche. Though he escapes, he ends up landing on a herd of prehistoric animals. These animals are escaping to the south to avoid the ice age. • Sid, the Sloth is left behind by his friends and family when they migrate. He starts off on his own when he gets attacked by Rhinos. A mammoth called Manny saves him so Sid decides to follow him.

6. Plot Summary • Meanwhile a pack of tigers headed by Soto attack a colony of humans. One tiger called Diego chases a mother and her baby Roshan to a waterfall. The mother jumps off the waterfall and dies, pushing her baby onto shore. Roshan is rescued by Sid and Manny and they decides to return the baby to the camp. However, the humans are gone when they reach the camp. • Diego, Soto’s lieutenant, is sent to find the baby and bring back. Diego meets Sid and Manny and goes with them to lure them into an ambush. They reach a cave where Sid and Diego come to know about Manny’s past and his experience with humans. The humans had killed his wife and son leaving Manny a cynical loner.

7. Plot Summary • Later, they were almost to Half-Peak, but encounter a river of lava. Manny and Sid, along with Roshan, make it safely but Diego struggles, about to fall into the lava. Manny rescues him narrowly missing a fall into the lava himself. • The next day, when they approach the ambush, Diego confesses to Manny and Sid. They battle Soto's pack together. As Soto closes in for the kill on Manny, Diego stops Soto, who wounds Diego in the process. Manny knocks Soto into a rock wall, causing several sharp icicles to fall on Soto, killing him. Manny and Sid leave Diego on his insistence and take Roshan back to his tribe. So Manny and Sid manage to return the Roshan to his father, and Diego rejoins them. The group begins to head off to warmer climates
