  5. What is a screencast? A movie that captures the display from a computer screen along with someone talking about what is being shown Who can create a screencast? Anyone with something to teach or present

  6. Uses of Screencasts • Tutorials for students and teachers • Video book talks • Fluency practice • Share projects • Explain answers • Demonstrate software features • Read-aloud accommodations

  7. What are your ideas for using Screencasts? Use the text tool on the e-board to type your idea in the blank space below or use the text chat box in Wimba.

  8. Advantages of Using Screencasts • Can learn by example • Learner can see every step of a process in detail • Learner can pause or rewind to move at own pace • Creator can explain in detail what is difficult to explain in words (Clear, complete instruction) • Can mimic a one-on-one classroom experience

  9. What is required? • A good idea • Video capture software • Microphone • Site for distribution • Willingness to share ideas

Then press “Ctrl” on your keyboard to speak. • Without a mic: type your question in the text chat box at the lower left of the screen
