Function • To break down food to be used by the body

Esophagus • Transports food to the stomach.
Stomach • Stomach acids and other enzymes mix with food to producechyme.
Small Intestine • Nutrients are absorbed into the blood and carried through out the body.
Liver • Creates and releases bile into the small intestine to help further break down food.
Pancreas • Secretes hormones such as insulin into the small intestine to help the body change food into fuel.
Large Intestine • Prepares waste for elimination from the body. Rectum • Where waste exits the body
