  2. Agenda • Getting started • Add slides • Add text to outlines and slide notes • Navigate presentations • Proof presentations • Apply templates • Add art to slides • Edit & manipulate art objects • Animate slide text • Set up pages and print

  3. Getting started • Select Start|Microsoft PowerPoint • Select one of these: • Blank presentation to start off a new project • Open an existing presentation. You may need to click on More Files… to navigate to your file.

  4. Adding slides • Select Insert|New Slide… • Select an AutoLayout • Click OK • Type text in the text placeholders

  5. Adding text to outlines & slide notes • Click the Outline pane • Position your insertion point • Press Ctrl + Enter keys • At the end of the last word on a slide to create a new slide • On a slide title to display all the text on that slide • Click the Promote button or Demote button on the toolbar to promote or demote the text • Click the Slide Notes pane to type notes

  6. Navigating presentations • Click on the Slide pane • The number of the active slide and total number of slides in the presentation appear in the status bar • Press PGUP or Previous Slide button to display the previous slide and PGDN or Next Slide button to display the next slide

  7. Proofing presentations • Click on the Slide pane • Select Tools|Options|Style Options… button • Select the Spelling and Style tab and set the options to suit you • Select the Visual Clarity tab and set the necessary options • Click OK

  8. Applying templates • Double-click the template box in the status bar • Select the template to apply from the Apply Design Template dialog box • Click Apply

  9. Adding art to slides • Click in the Slide pane • Select Insert|Picture • Select the type of picture to insert • Right-click on the picture and select Format Picture • Use the various options to format the picture

Editing & manipulating art objects • Select the clipart image • Click the Draw menu button on the Drawing toolbar • Choose Ungroup • Choose Yes, to convert the graphic to an MS Office drawing • Click a blank area on the slide to deselect image pieces Note: images from file cannot be ungrouped nor grouped

  11. Editing & manipulating art objects contd. • Use the Drawing tools to change the look and feel of the image by manipulating the pieces • When done, select all the image pieces • Choose Draw|Group to combine the small pieces into a single image • Manipulate the single image as desired using the Drawing tools

  12. Animating slide text • Click on the Slide pane • Click the Animate Effects button • Select the type of animation you want • Select the appropriate text to apply animation to

  13. Page Setup & Printing • Choose File|Page Setup • Make all necessary settings

  14. Page Setup & Printing contd. • Select the type of material to print: • Slides • Handouts • Notes Pages • Outline View
