epidemiology • More common among males than females (about 20 to 1 of males to females) • More often to people in the range of 15 – 25 years old • It is common for an individual to have more than one paraphilia
AETIOLOGY • Genetic • Prenatal influence of hormone in uterus • Hormonal abnormalities in adult • Brain abnormalities • Sexual molestation to child

FETISHISM • Involve using of an inanimate object to gain sexual excitement • For example, the object of a fetish could be an article of clothing, such as underwear, rubber clothing, women's shoes, or women's underwear or lingerie. • Smell, texture and appearance of objects are important for evoking sexual arousal
fetishististransvestism • The person repeatedly wears clothes of the opposite sex as the preferred or for sexual arousal (cross-dressing) • Practice by heterosexual males • The clothing varies from a single garment to a complete set of clothing.
paedophilia • Repeated sexual activity or fantasy with prepubertal children as a preferred or only means for sexual excitement. • Most paedophiles are men • The child may be of the same sex to the paedophile • The sexual contact may involve fondling,masturbation or full coitus with consequent injury to the child.
exhibitionism • Involving exposure of the individual’s genitals to an unsuspecting stranger. • Sometimes called as “flasher”- feels a need to surprise, shock or impress his or her victims. • The condition is usually limited to the exposure with no other harmful advances made.
sexual sadomasochism • Preference for sexual activity that involves bondage or inflicting pain on another person. • Masochism: the recurrent urge or behavior of wanting to be humiliated, beaten, bound or otherwise made to suffer for sexual pleasure. • Sadism: involving acts in which the pain or humiliation of a person is sexually exciting. • May cause serious injury from which the partner may die.
voyeurism • Recurrent urge or behavior to observe an unsuspecting person who is naked, disrobing, or engaging in sexual activities or activities which may not be sexual in nature at all. • Orgasm usually produced by masturbation, during voyeuristic activity or later in response to the memory of what the person has witnessed. • The voyeur does not seek sexual contact with the person he or she is observing.
frotteurism • A sexual preference that involve fantasy or activity of fondling or rubbing against unfamiliar women in public places.
treatment • Sexual counseling may help with problem informing the relationship with the opposite sex. • Sexual dysfunction should be treated. • Hormonal – anti androgenic drugs such as medroxy progesterone widely used as a therapy to reduce sex drive.(unpleasant side effect – breast growth, headache, weight gain and reduction in bone density) • Encourage to use distraction to control any fantasy of abnormal sexual behavior.
